MISSION

The mission of the Golden Futures Foundation is to be a vehicle to advance the development of underserved youth in our community. In partnership with Iota Mu Lambda Chapter, Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., other organizations, and individuals with similar interests, GFF will generate fundraising activities to facilitate mentoring, scholarship, and social awareness programs to enhance youth's social and academic development from the more significant Tacoma-Pierce County disadvantaged communities.

Joseph C. Peyton jr.

Joseph C. Peyton Jr. was a man of extraordinary character, vision, and dedication. A former military veteran, an accomplished college athlete and coach at the University of Puget Sound, and a respected community leader, Joe Peyton devoted his life to making a lasting impact on the lives of young African-American men in Tacoma and Pierce County. As a proud member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, he embraced the fraternity’s commitment to education and leadership, channeling his passion into mentoring and empowering youth to achieve their academic potential. The Joseph C. Peyton Jr. Scholarship, awarded through the Golden Futures Foundation, honors his legacy by continuing his mission to uplift underserved students. This scholarship embodies the values of Alpha Phi Alpha’s National Program, “Go to High School, Go to College,” and serves as a beacon of hope and opportunity, ensuring that Joe Peyton’s dreams of fostering academic excellence and leadership in his community live on.
